US Radiosurgery

Dr. Wohns founded NeoSpine, LLC in 2001 in order to develop a national network of outpatient spine surgery centers. A wholly owned subsidiary of NeoSpine, US Radiosurgery, was created to develop stereotactic radiosurgery centers for neurosurgery practices. When Symbion, Inc. acquired the outpatient spine surgery center business from NeoSpine in 2008, the US Radiosurgery subsidiary continued to grow as an independent company. Dr. Wohns was Director on the Board of US Radiosurgery. In 2011, Alliance Oncology acquired US Radiosurgery.

For decades, radiation has been used to shrink tumors prior to surgery, to ensure residual cancer cells don't remain after surgery and as a stand alone treatment for certain types of cancers. Stereotactic radiosurgery, the most accurate form of radiation treatment, has been used to successfully treat tumors and lesions of the brain since 1967, and its outcomes are excellent. Now, advancements in technology have enabled this treatment to be expanded to other areas of the body for more comprehensive radiation care.

Stereotactic radiosurgery has been limited in some communities due to the extraordinary investment required for equipment and expertise. US Radiosurgery provides a unique opportunity for physicians and hospitals to offer this procedure with minimal financial risk.
